Now that we're part of Te Pūkenga, some of our programmes are being updated to unify them for consistency in structure and delivery across providers in the network.

The new unified version of this programme will be delivered in Semester Two (July) 2024. It will include new entry requirements and revised courses, and fees may also be subject to change. You can apply now for the July intake, but please note that your enrolment will not be completed until the new programme details are confirmed.

As part of your programme, you will be required to bring the following materials: Pencils, pens, notebook and bring your own device (BYOD). Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. Steel cap footwear must be worn on the ground floor (workshops and canopy) and closed toe shoes are required in computer labs, classrooms and ground floor designated walkways. Full PPE will be provided to you, for more information please ask your lecturer. 

As part of your programme, you will be required to bring the following materials: Pencils, pens, notebook and bring your own device (BYOD). 

This programme is primarily intended for those who are already working in the maritime industry in a paid or voluntary role on a vessel.

If you want to get a start in construction or carpentry, select New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) with a strand in Carpentry from the list above.

In order to gain work experience on a super yacht, you must meet their employment criteria, which includes being age 18 or older.  Applicants who are under the age of 18 should contact Ask Me! student services to discuss their options.

Te Pūkenga is transitioning to new programmes for the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Maaori and Bachelor of Nursing Pacific.

Those who are accepted into one of these programmes will be automatically transitioned to the new version at the start of 2024.

The transition to the new programme will make no difference to your start date, location of study, teachers and access to StudyLink.

The July intake for this bachelor's degree programme is only open in to applicants who have completed the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Field-based) (Level 5).

If you are a new applicant, we recommend applying for the February intake or the diploma.

If you successfully complete the diploma, you will be eligible under specified criteria to pathway into the second year of the bachelor's degree.


Please note that this programme is subject to TEC approval and may be subject to further changes prior to being approved. We cannot currently enrol you into this programme but you may submit an application now, and MIT will process your application and enrolment when necessary approvals are received. 

This programme is being replaced with a similar unified programme with July and October intakes.

'Unified' means that it's had some minor updates for consistency in structure and delivery across providers in the Te Pūkenga network.

Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) is an initiative to encourage young Māori and Pasifika people to gain trade qualifications, New Zealand apprenticeships and employment.
